Container load calculator

Enter your cargo dimensions, weight and quantity to see how it fits into a container or truck before you book.

How it works

Know what fits before you book the box.

Enter each package’s dimensions, weight and quantity and the calculator works out how the cargo fits into a 20ft, 40ft, 40ft high-cube or 45ft container, or a 13.6 m trailer, allowing for stacking, rotation and weight limits. It tells you whether you are looking at a full container or a consolidation.

What are the internal dimensions of a container?

Roughly: 20ft is 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (about 33 m³), 40ft is 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (about 67 m³), 40ft high-cube is 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.69 m (about 76 m³) and 45ft high-cube is 13.56 × 2.35 × 2.69 m (about 86 m³). Individual units vary by a few centimetres, so the calculator keeps a margin.

FCL or LCL?

If the cargo fills more than about half of a 20ft container by volume or weight, a full container (FCL) is usually cheaper and the cargo is handled less. Below that, less-than-container-load (LCL) consolidation is the economical option. The result shows which side of that line you are on.

What about weight on the road?

A container can be legal for the ship and still over the limit for Egyptian roads. The calculator caps payload, and our inland desk arranges permits and escort when a heavy load needs them.
